In our yoga sessions, we utilize the element of water to strengthen our focus and literally lift weight off of our joints. Mahaliyah’s approach to yoga is one that is balanced, focusing on deep acknowledgment of the guru within, surrendering to any opportunities that arrive, and keeping it light in honoring the joy that yoga is meant to bring. She began her asana practice in 2007 with Brian Kest as her first teacher. Although her foundation is a powerful one in Ashtanga, her calling to share yoga with others came in her very first Restorative class with Linda French. Mahaliyah was blessed to travel to Bali for her first teacher training with Dashama Gordon in 2011 and has been helping others deepen their intimacy with yoga ever since.
Along her yogic path, she has immersed in trauma-informed trainings with Off the Mat and Into the World, has created cutting edge yoga curriculum for youth in public and private school settings, and has recently began facilitating yoga in swimming pools to add the visceral weightlessness in a time that can feel so heavy. She combines pranayama, meditation techniques, asana poses, strength building, deep stretching, and philosophical reflection to create a practice that offers numerous windows into One’s life, paralleling challenges and revealing clarity. Her goal is to facilitate the embodiment of human potential through awareness, on and off the mat, resulting in greater fulfillment and flow state. Key focus areas of creating space, being with the void, finding what feels delicious, being present with connection, and integrating all of it, leaving you experiencing life more vibrantly after class.
